As an Addictions Coach and a pioneer of changing the face of addiction in coming against the 12 Steppers, I’m not your favorite person coming down the street. Users question why I say hello, families draw back thinking I’m going to give them the Rescue talk, and for the few that addiction doesn’t affect, they’re afraid I’ll suspect that they’re ‘addicts’. I guess I can’t win a popularity award around anyone these days…except for those who I coach through their darkness and who come out the other side in victory. It is for those lives that I’m here.
If you see me in your neighborhood, don’t bolt; just talk to me. I’m there because you need to be rescued. I’m there to stop you from dying. I’m there because God saved my life from a terrible addiction in order to save yours. It’s not easy…just worth it. You’re worth it.
The healing obtained through God is forever…without steps…without wagons…without being labeled an addict ever again. God brings freedom and hope.
My good friend and brother in Christ wrote the books below. If you’re ready for change & not ready to join with others, please get these books and work on your own. You will be greatly blessed!
My daughter and I often revisit each of our former and very done addictions to prescription drugs. My daughter’s was for five years and it was due to a very unethical doctor who was selling Actiq from her office. My Rx addiction had to do with my own dark past from age 11, along with another unethical doctor who took full advantage of what he learned about me. That’s all for another time. Neither my child nor myself ever look back with desire for drugs…just with reflection on how blessed we both are to be alive when we really should have died. Praise God we’re here and living productive and fruitful lives.
As we were speaking last night, my wise ‘kid’ said only 3 little words that were so very profound and meaningful. She said,
“Remember to Forget”.
So, I have decided to forget the pain of what happened to me but about those ‘reflections’ – they are amazingly beautiful and fuel me each day to continue the work that God began in me 5 years ago when He saved my life from a massive accidental overdose from a lethal cocktail given to me by my trusted(?) doctor. So, I would want to tweak those three words to add, “Don’t Forget to Remember”…meaning that I always want the lessons that I painfully learned from my former addiction to stay in a prominent place in my consciousness. I will never ever stop helping those in the darkness of addiction. I will never stop telling people stuck in the bondage of addiction that their lives can be free and they can move forward into the purpose for which God created them. Yes, we all have a Divine Purpose and addiction has a permanent end. Yes, even YOU who are reading this…YOU, my friend have a special purpose that no one else has…YOUR life matters! If you need help, click here. Money doesn’t matter and isn’t a stumbling block to getting help that you need. Life is amazing once you “wake up” from your addiction and begin to flower and feel what being is all about.
“I am the Head and not the Tail”…I am An Addict No More!
